All students are expected to continue their faith formation from First Communion through Confirmation.
In order to receive the sacraments in St. Catharine parish, families including children must be registered parishioners at St. Catharine's.
In the spring of a student's eighth grade year, a Confirmation meeting for parents and students who are parishioners of St. Catharine will take place This year's meetings will be on April 24 and 25 from 8:00pm to 9:00pm in Community Hall.. You may attend whichever is more convenient. A form stating your intention to receive the sacrament must be received by June 1. Click here for a copy of that form.
During ninth grade, students meet in teachers homes for formal instruction. Retreats, service projects and interviews are all part of the preparation for this sacrament which is received in the fall of tenth grade. This year, Confirmation will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2017. This form must be received by the Religious Education office by March 1 of the year prior to their Confirmation.
In addition, students must choose a sponsor in accordance with provided guidelines and are encouraged to use their baptismal name but may take a saint's name if they wish. Sponsors may be a godparent from Baptism or another person who meets the following guidelines:
Students will process in to the Church along with their sponsor. Students and sponsors will sit in the front sections of the Church. Families and guests may sit in the remaining sections of the Church. Students and sponsors must arrive early to prepare; please look for specific instructions as the date approaches.
Note that photographs are not permitted during the liturgy. There will be ample time afterwards to take pictures. Young ladies should wear dresses that are appropriate for church. Young men should wear slacks, blazer and tie.
