  FOR CHILDREN FOR ADULTS

 CCD YEAR 2010-11
Please return all registration forms by August 20th.

At our Parish Speak-up in September several parishioners brought up the possibility of an alternate CCD Program in addition to our traditional weekly program.  After discussion with our staff the following programs will be offered as of September 2010:

Grade K-6:  Option 1Traditional Weekly Program: held on Monday or Tuesday from 3:45 -5pm at Academy of Our Lady School.  No Wednesday Classes.

Grade K-6:  Option 2Family Catechesis Program:  Parents and children would meet 5 – 6 times a year on Sundays from 1:30 – 3pm in Community Hall.  Parents would hear a guest speaker that would address the varied themes in the children’s CCD books.  Children would meet in church for prayer, music & basic information.  They would then meet in classes on grade levels.  At the end of the session children would return to parents for closing activity / prayer.  Parents would have certain lessons to complete with children at home before the next session.  Possible dates for the Family Catechesis Program:  Sundays 10/17, 12/05, 1/23, 3/06, 4/10, 5/15.

As a staff we believe it is important for children to come to the Parish for Liturgy, religious formation and community.  Our Parish Staff is committed to this program and will be involved in teaching, music & prayer celebration.

Teaching children individually at home or in small groups can be rewarding and participating in parish formation can enhance home programs.

The Family Catechesis Program includes Home Groups and children taught individually by parent and it replaces a parent picking up a book and doing it at home with no participation in the Parish community.  If you register for the Family Catechesis Program you and your children (grade K-6) would be expected to attend (only one parent would be necessary, both parents would be best!) each of the above Sunday Sessions.

If a family does not attend two or more sessions your children would be expected to join the Traditional Weekly Program.

Thank you for you support and cooperation as we work together to share our Catholic faith.

Please fill out the registration completely, it is very important that we have all the information filled out each year.

We are asking all parents to please add religiouseducation@stcatharinechurch.org  (our email address) to their address book so we may  inform you of meetings, reminders, update and cancellations due to inclement weather.  We also ask that you to add www.stcatharinechurch.org to your favorites as we will also use the Parish website to update you for cancellations for inclement weather and other notifications.
