Welcome...

Human Concerns ministries invite followers of Christ to work together bringing the gospel message of peace, justice and charity to our parish, our community and our world.

BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY
The members of the Bereavement Ministry reach out to those who have lost a loved one.  Short term weekly groups meet throughout the year to offer companionship and support. as well as a monthly group for those who have already attended the initial program.

BLOOD DRIVE
Our parish conducts a blood drive twice each year.  Parishioners 18 years old to 75 years old who are able to donate are encouraged to participate.

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
This group looks at maintaining the overall St. Catharine campus.  It ensures that the buildings of the campus are kept in working order and the associate grounds are aesthetically pleasing.   The Parish Garden Club tries to bring together the various groups in the parish and school to continue to enhance the natural beauty of the campus.  Parishioners with experience in gardening and landscape design are welcome to facilitate this work.

CARE TO HOMEBOUND PARISHIONERS
Parishioners provide Christian care for fellow-parishioners who are homebound (either temporarily or permanently) by rendering charity service and spiritual nourishment.  They provide a vital link to the parish community by:  visiting or calling them, providing transportation to the doctor, preparing an occasional meal and light grocery shopping.  Eucharistic Ministers bring Communion on Sunday or a weekday.

EASTERN CHRISTIAN CHILDREN'S RETREAT (ECCR) BIBLE SERVICE
A number of parishioners conduct a Bible service for the children at ECCR and visit resident parishioners in the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff on the second Sunday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m.

FINANCE COUNCIL
The two parish trustees and other parish volunteers with an interest and facility for fiscal planning and evaluation, advise the pastor concerning budget and related matters.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS MINISTRY
This ministry of mostly nurses tends to the health and wellness of the parish community.  Monthly blood pressure screenings are held on the first Sunday of the month from 8:15-noon in Community Hall from September through June.

HUMAN CONCERNS
This is an opportunity to reach out and help those in need.  Various groups are under this committee.

RESURRECTION PARISH
A program that coordinates the monthly collection and delivery of non-perishable food items – and various other services throughout the year to our “sister parish” in Jersey City.   This was formerly known as the St. Boniface Food Collection.

HOSPITAL VISITORS

Dedicated women and men make a friendly visit to our parishioners who are ill in Valley Hospital

RESPECT LIFE
Through prayer, education and action, the pro-life committee attempts to restore respect and reverence for human life from conception until natural death.

SOCIAL JUSTICE CONCERNS
St. Catharine’s sponsors the Work of Human Hands sale, a project of Catholic Relief Services which aims to promote human dignity and self-sufficiency by bringing gift and food items produced by third world artisans for direct sale in the US.  WOHH guarantees fair wages and safe working conditions for all involved.  St. Catharine’s WOHH sale takes place in the beginning of December.

JUST FAITH
JustFaith offers participants the opportunity to experience a spiritual journey into compassion.  The JustFaith program is run nation-wide and provides a lively and challenging format of reading, discussion, prayer, and experience where participants are formed by our Catholic justice tradition.  Small JustFaith communities gather for 30 weekly sessions, plus two day-long retreats.  In addition, there are four faca to face encounters in which participants meet with and share the stories of people directly affected by poverty, racism, homelessness or other forms of injustice.

PEACE AND JUSTICE
St. Catharine's Peace and Justice committee endeavors to follow the example of Christ to become healers and peacemakers in our world.  Founded by graduates of our parish JustFaith program, our faith informs our work in advocating for peace and justice.  Referring to our tradition of Catholic Social Teaching, we identify a few priority issues for which we educate ourselve and then advocate for change.  Grounded in scripture and prayer, we serve the parish as well as work with groups in the surrounding community.
