Worship ministries are focused on
planning and
implementing the various liturgies, sacraments and prayer opportunities
in the
parish to enhancing the participants’ faith experience and that
of all
parishioners.
LAZARUS MINISTRY
Teams
of adult parishioners provide support for the family during a Funeral
Liturgy.
They function as Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Servers.
Those with the gift of singing join the Alleluia Choir (see below).
LITURGY OF THE
WORD FOR CHILDREN
A program to help
children (ages 4-1/2 - 9) understand the message of Jesus.
Sessions are
held at the 10:30 a.m. Liturgies are held on the 2nd
and 4th
Sunday of each month and every Sunday during Advent and Lent.
LITURGY
COMMITTEE
The function of the
Liturgy
Committee is to assist in planning, supporting and critiquing all
liturgical
activities of the parish. The group consists of volunteer women
and men,
many of who are in the various ministries below.
ART AND
ENVIRONMENT
Volunteers on the ART
AND
ENVIRONMENT committee decorate the Church with plants and flowers
in order
to create an atmosphere in concert with the current liturgical
season.
EUCHARISTIC
MINISTERS
Parishioners who
are EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS distribute Eucharist during the
Communion Rite
at Liturgy as well as bringing Eucharist to the homebound.
GREETERS
Parishioners act
as GREETERS and welcome fellow parishioners at the Church
entrance and
guide them with seating, financial collection and reception of the
Eucharist at
Sunday and Holy Day Liturgies.
LECTORS
LECTORS proclaim the Word of God at
Liturgy.
SERVERS
SERVERS assist the Presider at
Liturgy. Parishioners in grades 6 and above are welcome.
Adult
Servers assist at 6:45 a.m. weekday Liturgies.
MUSIC MINISTRIES
Various music
ministries are active at St.
Catharine:
- The
ADULT CHOIR (SATB) sings at the 10:30 am Sunday
Liturgy, September—June, rehearsing in the school’s Music
Room on Thursdays, 7:45 – 9:00 pm, and Sundays 9:15 –
10:15am.
- The ALLELUIA CHOIR, which is part of the Lazarus
Ministry, sings at Funeral Liturgies, rehearsing Monday—Saturday
before/after funerals.
- The CHILDREN's CHOIR
is open to parishioners in Grades K-5. They sing at the noon
liturgies on both Christmas and Easter and rehearse in the Church
during Advent and Lent.
- The HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH CHOIR
is comprised of high school aged parishioners who will sing and play
instruments at various liturgies throughout the year. Rehearsals
are in Church as needed.
- VOLUNTEER MUSICIANS
are both adult and youth parishioners who play instruments for Sunday
liturgy. Auditions and rehearsals are required.
