The St. Catharine Altar Server Corps is made of over 50 students who are in grades 5 through 12. Corps members assist the Priests and Deacons at Mass and at other liturgical events of the Parish. We also get together during the year for social events.
New members are always welcome! If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, please contact us at the email addresses below. Training is easy and is normally comprised of two one-hour sessions. The first session introduces the candidates to the parts of the mass they will be involved in, and shows them the procedures used by servers.
Candidates come back for the second session (hopefully having attended Mass over the weekend to see what been taught in action) and go through things in more detail. They are then assigned to masses with experienced altar servers until they become the experienced altar server themselves!
All servers will be assigned one weekend Mass (5pm Sat, 8, 10, 12pm Sun) a month. If told in advance, the office will try to avoid scheduling conflicts, but if something does come up, the servers are expected to work with each other to find a replacement.
