“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another~ Proverbs 27:17
Let’s face it. We can all use more joy in our lives. With our ever increasingly complicated lives, we all need time to stop, reflect, and replenish our spiritual life. Cornerstone is a great way to do this.
The Saint Catharine’s Men’s Cornerstone Group is a predominantly social men’s group with a wonderful commonality, our Faith!! We are a sharing, openly communicative, group who have built a strong reliance on one another for prayer, fellowship and accountability.
We gather nearly every month (8-10 times a year) to talk about everyday life, spend some time digging into the Word and how it relates to our world today, and just be ourselves. Many of us think of it as a quick (90 minutes or so) tune-up for the soul. Our core values are confidentiality, communication and courtesy.
Men’s Cornerstone partakes of many Parish-based outreach projects throughout the year and has a wonderful tradition of involvement in St. Catharine’s Easter and Christmas celebrations.
The culmination of the Cornerstone year is our annual “retreat”, which will be held this coming year on March 1st and 2nd, 2019, here at Saint Catharine’s. There's no big mystery to the Cornerstone weekend. It is simply ordinary people sharing stories and experiences of trying to live the Gospel amidst the challenges of the modern world. It's a simple but moving experience.
The retreat is facilitated by a team of parishioners who have previously experienced Cornerstone. During the weekend, some members of the Cornerstone team will give talks that you will have the opportunity to discuss with others in attendance. It is a very casual atmosphere and you may share in the discussion as much or as little as you'd like -- or not at all if that is your preference.
The goal of Cornerstone is to build up our parish community person-by-person, year-by-year, with Jesus Christ as the foundation (our Cornerstone). With more than 215 Cornerstone alumni you are sure to know someone in the group! We’re just a bunch of normal guys walking with each other through life and we always have a chair available for another guy who wants to become part of the “family”!
