A great big “thank you” to all those who attended the “Town Hall” meeting on Tuesday, June 22 in Community Hall. It was a wonderful turnout with lots of fantastic ideas being shared. It truly speaks to who we are as a community. As was said on Tuesday night, “opportunity is knocking” and we need to take action to “Reopen, Refresh and Renew” the parish. There were many ideas presented at the open forum - and certainly more ideas are welcome. There is a list of ideas available below. This list is a consolidated one from all of the ideas that came forth at the meeting. This is not intended to dismiss any ideas that were presented, but rather to start with “events’ that had leaders sign up or could be done in a timely manner. Some of the ideas fall under categories of existing ministries and will be forwarded to the appropriate ministry leaders. There were a few that are just not feasible right now due to budgetary constraints and the like.
Now the real work begins!! Ideas are wonderful, but it takes people to execute and manage these ministries/events.
Take a moment to look over the list and see what interests you. Then take another moment to email sallyt17@hotmail.com and let us know that you want to sign up for a particular ministry/event. If you are already in a ministry and are hoping to continue, please reach out to the ministry leader (names and contacts can be found on the parish website) and let them know you are still interested and are ready to begin. If you want to join an existing ministry, please look over the list on the website and reach out to the ministry leader.
Something to consider. It was said at the meeting that “it takes a village”. It really does! This parish belongs to each of you, our parishioners and we are only as good as the sum of our parts. We have an opportunity now to improve the many wonderful things our parish has always had and to begin new ways of connecting with each other on a variety of different levels. Many villages in other parts of the world have a long tradition of handing down the traditions of the community from generation to generation. We need to follow that model. We are hoping and praying that those who have been in the parish for a long time and, perhaps, have grown children who have run the sports and over-scheduled gamut and find themselves with a little more time on their hands, will take the lead on many of these things. Are you new to the parish or the parent of young children? Why not give something a try that takes a little less commitment of time, a one-time event perhaps. Let’s create a parish that has a well-planned and lasting environment where many will come for generations to receive spiritual and social nourishment and enrichment. The choice is yours. We can’t wait to hear from you.
