After graduating Manhattan College in 1962, Deacon Jim went on to obtain a PhD from U. Wisconsin in 1966. He then served in the USAF as a Bioenvironmental Engineer finishing as a Captain in 1969. After leaving the service he came back East to teach in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Manhattan College from 1969 to 2001 and as an adjunct until 2014.
He is married to MaryBeth since 1963; they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren all in the area - which keeps them very active with family. They moved to Glen Rock in 1974 and have been active in St. Catharine parish and school ever since. Ordained a deacon in May of 1992, he developed the Welcoming committee and our religious service at the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat. He especially enjoys bringing the Eucharist to the hospitals and nursing homes each Thursday as well as periodically starting his homilies with a melody.
